After two unsuccessful geothermal drilling the company Enex Power Germany wants to come in Gelting now, with innovative technology from Canada to your destination.
Gelting/Calgary – Eavor Technologies, based in Calgary, is the new Partner of Enex. The companies want to establish a company to win on the Enex leased urban land in the Geltinger shelter, heat from the depth.

“As we originally intended, we will continue our Plan to deliver in the Region of both heat and electricity,” according to Enex CEO Dr. Robert Straubinger. As reported by Enex has invested since 2004, over 30 million euros in the geretsrieder geothermal project – unfortunately without success. The depth was rich 6036 meters. There, Enex level as a record-breaking 169 degrees. But the hot water bubbled just sparse enough for economic use and district heating for the city of Geretsried.
How to get a floor heating
With the use of the Eavor technology Enex now takes a new start. A liquid that absorbs the heat from the Rock, and for the generation of energy to the surface to be transported circulates in an underground closed circuit. “I will send surface water, because there is down there is none in the depth, so that it is heated there and get it back up to the top,” says Straubinger the principle. “The Whole in a closed eternal cycle, as in the case of a heated floor.” This will be drilled in the relatively soft limestone rock in horizontal direction number of channels, the largest possible area for heat exchange. Thermal water from the depth is according to Straubinger not necessary. “I have no exploration risk, and so geothermal energy can be located at virtually any place to implement,” says the expert.
The project in Geretsried is a “great way to show how our technology can complement the traditional geothermal development,” says Bailey Black, Senior engineer at Eavor. It was “absolutely thrilled” to be able to this new and innovative technology, is pleased to Enex, managing Director of the Straubinger.
Both partners expect that the regulatory approvals for the project in Geretsried be available until the beginning of 2021, and the financing is completed. In 2022, the plant is scheduled to go into operation. The city of Geretsried can hope on a district heating supply. In Canada Eavor has been operating in 2019, a Pilot and demonstration plant.
research project continues
Unaffected by the project with the Canadians, the research project will continue to run on the Hofgut Breitenbach. “At the moment, laboratory experiments and theoretical models,” says Dr. Robert Straubinger on demand from our newspaper. In port, probably in the fourth quarter, to start the Work on site. As reported it will be investigated on the Hofgut Breitenbach, such as the density, up to 169 degrees to a hot and dry lime-stone on the best use can. The idea of the researchers: they want to bring in the cracks criss-crossed by underground quartz sand, so that the columns remain open. Then, the water has to be in the deep pumped. There it heats up and is again transported to the top. Via a heat exchanger, the hot water can be used for district heating before the cooled water is again pumped into the ground. In a second step, again should be drilled to connect the cracks to each other.
