At the end of January, the broadcaster RTLzwei brought another classic game show back to the TV screen with the “Wheel of Fortune”. The new edition will be moderated by Sonya Kraus (49) and Thomas Hermanns (60). It is now clear when the second edition will run with the two stars, who will then take turns moderating and turning the letters around.

According to the broadcaster, on April 27 (from 8:15 p.m., also on RTL), nine candidates will again try to solve the puzzles on the wall of letters. Spinning the Wheel of Fortune determines the amount of money credited to the player’s account when a consonant is guessed. The three winners from the preliminary rounds advance to the Champions final.

The “Glücksrad”, which is based on the US version “Wheel of Fortune”, was first broadcast in Germany from 1988 on Sat.1. In 1998, Kabel Eins continued the show. Moderator Peter Bond (70) and “letter fairy” Maren Gilzer (63) were no longer there, instead Sonya Kraus took over the role of Gilzer and Frederic Meisner (69) and later Thomas Ohrner (57) the moderation job. The last issue followed at the end of 2002. From 2004 to 2005 and from 2016 to 2018 there was also a continuation or new edition on other channels.

Sonya Kraus said in an interview with spot on news in January about the new edition of the show that the revival was “like coming home to my living room”. “It was all so learned, familiar and ingrained in my DNA that I probably could have done the show with three per thousand,” she said, laughing. She added at the time: “The familiarity with the rules of the game and the flow of the game was there straight away and I have to admire Thomas for adapting to that in such a short time. It’s a big show with an audience who also have very strict rules because it’s about money.”
