When Marie Käfer enters the studio, a murmur goes through the room. “Now look, that’s color,” calls Horst Lichter as the saleswoman approaches. “I like it,” agrees Heide Rezepa-Zabel. The 27-year-old pop singer from Hamburg impresses with a red top and fiery red hair.
But she’s actually at “Bares for Rares” because of a gold bracelet that she wants to sell on behalf of her grandmother. Half a century ago, she was given the jewelry by her in-laws. Rezepa-Zabel dates the bracelet to the 1950s. “It’s airy, it’s light, it turns its back on the voluminous forms of the 1940s,” says the expert. The jewelry was made in Italy, the material is 750 gold.
“Omi would like 3,000 euros,” said Käfer when asked about the desired price. “No problem at all,” is the spontaneous reaction of the expert. Heide Rezepa-Zabel estimates the value at 3500 to 3700 euros. That would make Grandma happy.
As Horst Lichter predicted, a murmur went through the dealer’s room when Marie Käfer entered. “But that’s something for the eye,” says Lisa Nüdling. “What brilliance in our hut,” flatters Daniel Meyer. Wolfgang Pauritsch starts with 2500 euros. All dealers bid, and so the price reaches the estimated value: For 3500, Lisa Nüdling buys the jewelry in the end.
Suddenly three people are happy: “I’m happy,” says the happy buyer. “Me too. And my grandmother is happy too,” replies Marie Käfer.
