Pop diva Madonna has been discharged from the hospital after her serious illness. The 64-year-old “feels better” and is back home, according to the singer’s environment on Thursday. The US singer had been in intensive care for several days and had to postpone her world tour.
Her manager Guy Oseary announced on the online platform Instagram on Wednesday that Madonna fell ill with a “serious bacterial infection” on Saturday and was admitted to an intensive care unit. However, she is expected to make a full recovery.
Madonna’s world tour, which was due to begin in mid-July, has been postponed indefinitely. Her management did not specify which hospital the musician was admitted to. The celebrity portal “Page Six” of the tabloid “New York Post” reported that Madonna was in a New York hospital.
The singer, born Madonna Louise Ciccone, is one of the biggest pop stars of the past decades. She has released 14 studio albums since the early ’80s and has won the coveted Grammy Music Award seven times. Her worldwide successes include hits like “Like a Prayer”, “Material Girl” and “Like a Virgin”. The mother of two biological and four adopted children also appeared in several films as an actress.
