With the 22-year-old Amsterdam native Rikkie Kolle, a trans woman has won the title “Miss Nederland” for the first time in the Netherlands. “This finalist shone throughout the show and made the most progress. She has a rock-solid story with a clear mission,” said the jury after Saturday night’s decision in Leusden. Kolle is no stranger to the Netherlands. In 2018 she made it to the final of the TV competition “Holland’s Next Top Model”.

“I know better than anyone what it’s like to feel alone and not just surrounded by positive thoughts. When I was little Rik and came out as transgender it wasn’t easy for everyone and neither have I went through,” explained the winner in her performance for the competition.

“Now, years later, I stand stronger in my shoes than ever, and that’s something I want to pass on to all who need it. Because as long as you always remain who you are, there is no one above you can stand,” said the 22-year-old. She added: “I love to advocate for all the little Rikkies who are rejected by their families to grow into the person they want to be. I help them build their self-image and acceptance, untouchable. “
