Model Vanessa Tamkan (26) pulls blank for the animal welfare organization Peta. In a new wildlife campaign, she poses naked except for skin-colored panties. A body painting turned the former “GNTM” candidate into a tiger.
On Wednesday (August 2nd) Peta presented the campaign. The animal welfare organization wrote on Instagram about the photo: “Six hours of painting with a spectacular result.” As a tiger, Tamkan draws attention to an important issue: “Wild animals belong in the wild and not in zoos!” The former “GNTM” candidate is a “true animal lover” and has been committed to animals for many years.
The model is quoted as saying: “Please never visit a zoo! Children are tomorrow’s generation who can change something.” There are many alternatives: “You can experience the animals, for example, through VR glasses in the middle of their natural environment. There are also many animal documentaries – that’s exciting and authentic! Zoos are just prisons for animals that want to live in freedom. “
Tamkan took on a lot for the shooting, which took place in April. “For six hours, I was made into a tiger with an airbrush and brush,” she now looked back in an Instagram story. The whole team “put in so much effort for this message”. In about two weeks you can see the poster in Berlin, Frankfurt am Main, Cologne, Hamburg, Munich and Stuttgart.
Vanessa Tamkan, who was then called Stanat, became known in 2019 through her participation in “Germany’s next top model”. She caused a stir because she voluntarily dropped out shortly before the final. She later explained her decision by saying she was misrepresented on the show. In an Instagram video, she said: “For weeks, I’ve basically had to watch my character being shown in a way that he just isn’t – and things happening or being shown.” For example, she gave answers in interviews that would then have been shown in a completely different context. “Suddenly you find yourself in a situation where you realize, or where you have the feeling, that you can no longer morally justify it.” It was a situation where you felt like you were betraying yourself if you continued at this point. “I just wanted to be true to myself. I wanted to be honest with myself.” You wanted to win, “but not at any price”. And it was precisely this price that was ultimately too high for her.
In the same year she married Roman Tamkan. The two announced in August 2020 that they are expecting their first child together. Son Carlo was born in February 2021. The couple have since separated and are now divorced. Tamkan is currently moving in with her new partner, as she announced to her 296,000 followers on her Instagram account.
