“I’ve never been so nervous”: Daniela Katzenberger (36) tried to advance her hit career for the whole season of “Daniela Katzenberger – Familienglück auf Mallorca”. Now she has reached the preliminary peak: the “Schlagerboom” in Kitzbühel moderated by Florian Silbereisen (41).

And the cat doesn’t even know where to go because of all the stage fright: she’s afraid that she’ll freeze on stage, that the audience will boo her, that she’ll slip. A few hours before her performance, she calls her tapping therapist again. The collarbone is slapped against nervousness via Facetime. But that doesn’t help anymore, as the cat resignedly states: “No, I’m panicking. […] I’m screwed.”

She suddenly has an idea for this: she needs a reward that she can concentrate on. Which is also quickly determined: Pizza! “I have to taste my reward! That’s the best feeling for me. It’s like an Oscar,” says Katzenberger. And: “That helps somehow now.”

Daughter Sophia (7) is also helpful: She “recognizes the seriousness of the situation”, as Lucas Cordalis (55) puts it, helps her mother with the extensions, gets her hairspray at the reception and talks to her calmingly. “She’s very empathetic at seven and gets me down,” says Dani happily. Lucas, on the other hand, completely exhausts her with his “fortune cookie” sayings and advice that she should mentally hug the audience.

For Dani, when she’s supposed to line up on stage with the other stars for the final dress rehearsal, “it’s like entering a new class all by myself.” Between hit greats like Vicky Leandros (70), Ross Antony (49) and Andreas Gabalier (38) she takes a seat, laughing nervously. Ross also notices: “She’s really excited.”

Then, the big moment, Dani has to get out into the spotlight. On the way to the stage, the unavoidable: “I’m throwing up, I’m sick.” But then she doesn’t. The salvation is the fog at the beginning of her song, which protects her from the eyes of the audience. It’s not really the point of an appearance, but it helps: “Because I knew nobody would see me!” When the fog clears, Dani finally enjoys her performance.

After that, of course, huge relief: “I did really great!” Not only the family thinks it, but also Dani herself. Backstage, the promised pizza is already waiting for the cat, or as she puts it: “The epitome of mouth orgasm. That was the best slice of pizza I’ve ever eaten.” But it gets even better: After the performance, her song “So bin ich und so bleib ich” climbs to fourth place in the download charts.
