They were considered a dream couple from politics and show business: Former Foreign Minister Heiko Maas (56) and actress Natalia Wörner (55) have split up. This is reported by the “Bild” newspaper, citing the ex-couple’s lawyer. “We decided a long time ago to go our separate ways in the future,” said Maas and Wörner in a statement. In 2016, the former Justice and Foreign Minister and the successful actress appeared in public for the first time as a couple.
Wörner and Maas want to “remain friendly” even after their separation, as the joint statement goes on to say. For the future, both “wish each other the best from the bottom of their hearts.” Further details on the separation will not follow “for reasons of protecting our privacy”.
Maas and Wörner are said to have met in 2014 at an event organized by the BFFS Actors’ Association. Friendship turned into love over time. In Maas’ time as Minister of Justice under ex-Chancellor Angela Merkel (69), they appeared publicly as a couple for the first time. At that time, Maas was still married to his wife Corinna Maas. In 2018, the marriage was divorced after 15 years.
The former foreign minister has since retired from politics. Maas resigned from the Bundestag on December 31, 2022. Since then, the law graduate has been a partner in a Berlin law firm.
Wörner has appeared in film and television productions for more than three decades. She first caused a stir in 1994 in Dominik Graf’s (70) feature film “Die Sieger”. In the ZDF series “Under Other Circumstances” she became known to a wider audience as Commissioner Jana Winter. The native of Stuttgart has stood in front of the camera more than 80 times in her long and successful career.
