This week, the construction of the Sophie hospice begins. The line Rita Gabler takes over. The former 400-Meter runner, and explains how it came about, and why a heart’s desire fulfilled.
Freising/Erding – the construction of The Sophie hospice in Erding start. After the MWS hospice Foundation has found, under the direction of Marianne follower as reported in March, a General contractor for the construction phase, will start the implementation of the project at Sternweg. Rita Gabler (born Daimer), former top athlete, and 400-Meter runner in the WAS Middle of the Isar, will direct the new facility. In this Interview, she talks about why the project is a dream come true, and whether the Corona pandemic is changing the care.
“The implementation seemed out of reach”
woman Gabler, why is a dream come true for you with the construction of the Sophie hospice in Erding?
I think not only for me but also for many others working in the field of hospice and palliative care, is a dream come true. For me particularly, because I may in the future help to shape the work, the nature and perception of the inpatient hospice significantly. On top of that, I can contribute in the new role, more than in the past for my two home-counties. To Erding, where I was born, and also the past years have led the Palliative care Team. And on the other, Freising, where I went to school in the am and almost the whole of my sporting career I spent.
How they came to this new task?
The hospice-construction associations in the palliative team and Hospice in Freising and Erding has long been a very important topic, but seemed in the implementation unattainable. The dream is now fulfilled, we owe to the family follower from Freising to the hospice Foundation with your private MWS this Vision come true. As this was decided, came to Marianne follower a year ago to me and asked if I could imagine the line. I was perplexed, but delighted, me that the founders trust this responsible task. Finally, it comes, from the outset, the appropriate attitude and one would establish full dealing with terminally ill people in such a facility. It quickly became clear to me that I want to reject this challenge under any circumstances.
“I need employees who bring a lot of pioneering spirit”
A challenge, like probably more of a Marathon than a long print about 400 meters?
(chuckles) This could well be so. But I am very confident that I can handle such a Marathon. Of experience and Knowledge in hospice and palliative care field, it’s not for a lack of me anyway, and hurdles have put me off also never. Also, I don’t think the new hospice as a project for an Individual, but as a total task of our network hospice and palliative care Freising/Erding. The Palliative care team and hospice associations provide for many years of excellent work and support, where it will go. Now an outpatient facility for those people with the new hospice, finally, have no family network or under other particularly incriminating diseases. Some people just can not die at home, and a clinic would not take them. Sophie’s hospice is just to be these people’s last home, in which you and comfortable can be repealed. A woman follower, as a longtime hospice nurse and Chairman of the Freisinger hospice Association has recognized this years ago.
What are you looking forward to the most?
in Particular, I am currently putting together a whole new team. I need employees who bring a lot of pioneering spirit. People who want to contribute with their individual talents and ideas actively. Certainly, it is a great gift, in a beautiful, light-filled house work. Much more important are the people that are there, and the spirit of such a house to the inside and the outside map, however.
In times of Corona, the work situation in nursing is an acute issue that should be improved. They believe that after the crisis, something is changing for the nursing staff for the Better?
I would, of course, that politicians, local authorities and operators to tackle the issue. But I am also of the opinion that for a real change in the Care of the self courageous for their profession and, finally, from the image of the medical assistant to exempt. For this it needs a strong professional Association and a good Lobby. Both are in the nursing field is not present, as especially the Doctors, are to be solid against such a development.
