Boris Becker (55) apparently has a job as a tennis coach again. As the TV channel Sky reported on Monday, the former world-class player will be hired as an additional coach for the Danish star player Holger Rune (20). Becker is supposed to be the current number five in the world rankings as a kind of special coach who will only look after him at selected tournaments. His main coach is still Lars Christensen.
So far, however, there has been no official confirmation of Becker’s comeback as a tennis coach. Rune only posted a group photo of his team on Instagram. Boris Becker can also be seen in training clothes. He simply shouted: “Great training week in Monaco.” According to media reports, Becker will take over Rune’s care for the first time at the tournament in Basel from October 23rd to 29th.
Boris Becker, who spent seven and a half months in prison for insolvency offenses in 2022, has been working as a TV expert again since his release. His only previous engagement as a trainer was crowned with great success. In 2013 he became the coach of the then world number two Novak Djokovic (36). Under his aegis, the Serb won six Grand Slam titles and became the undisputed number one in the tennis world.
