Britney Spears (41) is currently making countless headlines with her autobiography “The Woman in Me” (to be published on October 24th). In the book she reveals, among other things, details from her love life. Now new details of her short romance with Hollywood star Colin Farrell (47) in the early 2000s are becoming known.
In a passage quoted by “Time” magazine, Spears writes that she met Farrell while he was filming the film “S.W.A.T. – The Special Forces”, shortly after her separation from pop star Justin Timberlake (42). The 41-year-old also discusses this relationship in detail in her memoirs. While Timberlake slept with “six or seven girls” in the weeks after the breakup, Spears herself hadn’t gotten over the end of love, but now wanted to get back into dating life. A friend then set her up with Farrell. She visited him on the set of his film and there was a spark between the two.
What followed was a two-week affair that, according to Spears, was very “passionate.” She describes the liaison as a “brawl”: “We attacked each other and fought with each other as if we were in a street fight,” says the singer.
In January 2003, Spears and Farrell appeared together at the premiere of his film “The Recruit.” At that time, Spears remembers, she still wasn’t over her relationship with Justin Timberlake. She tried “in every way to convince herself that it wasn’t a big deal, that we were just having fun.”
At the premiere, Farrell told reporters that the relationship with Spears was nothing serious. “We’re not dating. She’s a sweet, sweet girl. But there’s nothing going on – just friends.” Spears gushed to W Magazine a few months later: “Yes, I kissed him. He’s the sweetest, hottest thing in the world. But it wasn’t anything serious.”
In “The Woman in Me,” however, Spears writes that she thought “for a brief moment” that “there really might be something there.” She doesn’t reveal how or why the relationship ultimately ended.
