The year was 2003, when the successful singer Britney Spears met the actor and womanizer Colin Farrell. The two were already rumored to be having an affair, but at the premiere of his film “The Recruit,” Farrell denied the rumors, telling a reporter: “We’re not dating. She’s a sweet, sweet girl. There’s no way we are friends only”. Britney Spears now says that was probably a lie.
20 years later, pop princess Britney Spears clears up many old rumors. In her memoir “The Woman in Me,” which will be released worldwide on October 24, she reflects on her connection to Farrell at the time. She herself admitted to W Magazine at the time: “It’s nothing serious. Yes, I kissed him. He’s the sweetest, hottest thing in the world.”
The journalist Leah Greenblatt from “The New York Times” was able to take a look at the artist’s biography in advance.
A passage of the book describes how Farrell and Spears met. A mutual acquaintance and club promoter is said to have introduced them to each other. Then Spears is said to have met the actor on the set of the film “S.W.A.T.” visited and things are said to have gotten down to business quickly. The Times reports that Spears described the situations with Farrell as a “tussle”: “Scuffle is the only word for it – we fell on each other and fought as passionately as if we were in a street brawl.” The then passionate affair between the singer and the actor is said to have lasted for two weeks.
Spears also writes that she was still heartbroken over Justin Timberlake at the time. The couple separated in 2002 after three years of dating. The British newspaper The Sun reported that the publication of the Spears memoir was delayed by four months because of interference from both Timberlake and Farrell’s lawyers. Both stars asked for advance versions of their stories to read and put in the red pencil. But the stories remaining in the book also seem to contain enough hot material.
