A number of audience members were reported to have walked out of a Cannes Film Festival press screening last week, during especially graphic scenes
Kristen Stewart seems to not be too concerned about people who cannot stomach her latest project.
According to Insider, the actress who plays the role of the David Cronenberg horror movie Crimes of the Future seemed unaffected by the fact that some people walked out of the screening of the film last week at the Cannes Film Festival.
The publication reported that people left the Monday screening of the film’s graphic scenes. It follows Saul Tenser (Viggo Morensen), a performer who has to have his organs removed in front of a large crowd.
Stewart, who plays an investigator surgeon for the National Organ Registry, discussed the film at a press conference on the next day. According to Insider, Stewart said that it was fun to talk about Cronenberg’s movies and how difficult they are to watch.
Stewart, 32, also gave praise to the Canadian screenwriter and director, who received similar criticisms for movies such as The Fly and Shivers.
“Every single weird, gaping bruise in his movies, it makes me open my mouth. It’s tempting to lean in towards it. It never repulses or frightens me. It is a visceral desire that I feel and it’s what makes me feel alive. Insider reported that we are pleasure sacks.”
