The American singer-songwriter SZA is the favorite for the 2024 Grammy Awards. The 34-year-old, whose real name is Solána Rowe, was nominated nine times for the world’s most famous music award on Friday, including for her song “Kill Bill” and the album “SOS”.
Overall, when the candidates for the award were announced next year, women dominated with many nominations, including Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, Miley Cyrus and the band Boygenius with Phoebe Bridgers. In the prestigious Album of the Year category, singer Jon Batiste is the only man with a chance of winning.
Billie Eilish, 2020’s big winner, got five of her nominations for her hit song “What was I Made For” from the “Barbie” movie. In total, music from the pink box office hit received over ten nominations and is likely to play a role at the awards ceremony. Producer Jack Antonoff and Canadian sound engineer Serban Ghenea also have several chances for the coveted statue.
Overall, in the three most important categories, a showdown is looming between Swift – who has sparked worldwide hype with her current tour – SZA and Rodrigo. All three are nominated for Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Recording of the Year.
The Grammys are scheduled to take place for the 66th time on February 4, 2024, in Los Angeles. Around 13,000 members of the Recording Academy decide on the winners of the Golden Gramophones, which are among the most coveted music prizes in the world and are awarded in 94 categories.
