The number of Vocational Training students has increased in Castilla y León since the 2018/2019 academic year by more than 4,000 students, which represents almost nine percent, up to 44,500, as confirmed on Monday by the Minister of Education, Rocío Lucas, who in addition to highlighting that the FP offer is extended next year with 45 new cycles, has encouraged students to enroll in studies that in the Community have one that employs 85 percent, a percentage that rises up to one hundred percent in the case of the FD Dual.
Lucas, who made these statements before opening this afternoon in Valladolid the national conference ‘The internationalization of VET as a path to excellence’, a forum in which the Ministry of Universities, representatives of the different autonomous communities, as well as the cities of Ceuta and Melilla and members of the commission of the European Erasmus program, has argued that these conferences highlight the importance of the internationalization of Vocational Training to improve its excellence.
In turn, the counselor has also indicated that it is an honor that Castilla y León has hosted the first act of the 35th anniversary of the Erasmus program and has asserted that for the Board internationalization “is a necessity” to continue improving the quality of FP . In this sense, she has recalled that there have already been more than 400 scholarships awarded to students who have participated in the Erasmus program, and has shown the commitment of her department so that VET is an opportunity for the future and development for Castile and León.
In turn, Lucas has indicated that Castilla y León is advancing in the development of a Vocational Training system aligned with European recommendations and priorities, promoting a more open, more specialized system, better adapted to the professional qualification needs of the sectors productive.
With this objective, as he explained, applied technology classrooms (Ateca) have already been launched in 41 centers, in which students become familiar with the new tools and manufacturing techniques of industry 4.0, as well as with reality virtual and augmented reality, and there are also 77 Entrepreneurship Classrooms, in collaboration with companies, business associations and clusters in Castilla y León.
