The arrival of summer has relaunched labor recruitment in Aragon. The increase in employment in agriculture, temporary jobs linked to vacations and tourism have substantially increased the number of Social Security affiliates, which in turn has translated into a cut in registered unemployment, which remains at the lowest since September 2008.

Despite fears of a new economic crisis just around the corner, for now the summer gives the Aragonese labor market a break. Thus, June ended with 7,200 net jobs more than in May and 1,333 fewer unemployed, according to the latest official figures made public this Monday.

In a year-on-year comparison, employment –affiliated to Social Security– has added 10,774 new jobs in Aragon, and the unemployment list has scored 17,983 less meadows.

This overall figure once again highlights a structural socioeconomic problem that Aragon is dragging on: unemployment is down not only because of net job creation but also because of a significant loss of the active population.

Considering the sectors of activity, registered unemployment decreased monthly in June in services (1,054 unemployed fewer, -2.57% monthly), in industry (296 unemployed fewer, -4.39% monthly), in construction (110 unemployed less, -3.15% monthly) and in agriculture (21 less unemployed, -0.74% monthly). Finally, in the group without a previous job, unemployment in June 2021 increased by 148 people in Aragón (3.00% monthly).

As for the provinces, registered unemployment in June was reduced compared to May by 367 people in Huesca (-4.63% monthly), by 155 people in Teruel (-3.22% monthly) and by 811 people in Zaragoza ( -1.76% monthly).
