Matt LeBlanc (56) commented for the first time in an Instagram post about the death of “Friends” co-star Matthew Perry (1969-2023). The actor died on October 28, 2023 at the age of 54. “Matthew, it is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye,” LeBlanc begins his emotional contribution. “The time we spent together was honestly one of the best times in my life.”
It was an honor to share the stage with Perry and to call him a friend. “I’ll always smile when I think of you, and I’ll never forget you. Never. Spread your wings and fly, brother, you’re free at last. Much love to you. And I guess you keep the 20 bucks, that you owe me.” In the post, the 56-year-old shared pictures from “Friends” that featured his character Joey Tribbiani and Perry’s character Chandler Bing. The two characters are best friends in the series and provide a lot of laughs as a duo. LeBlanc also attached a picture of the “Friends” cast hugging each other in a large group.
Matthew Perry was found dead in his home in Los Angeles; the exact cause of death has not yet been determined. The funeral took place on November 3rd at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles, not far from Warner Bros. Studios, where Perry filmed “Friends” for years. In addition to friends and family, his former co-stars from the series also came, including Matt LeBlanc, Jennifer Aniston (54), Courteney Cox (59), Lisa Kudrow (60) and David Schwimmer (57).
A few days after Perry’s death, the “Friends” stars made a joint statement. “We are all deeply devastated by the loss of Matthew,” the actresses and actresses said, as reported by US magazine People. “We were more than just cast mates. We are a family.” There is “so much to say,” but for now Perry’s friends would like to take a moment “to mourn and process this incredible loss,” the statement said at the end of October. As time goes on, they want to “say more when we are able. For now, our thoughts and love are with Matty’s family, his friends and everyone around the world who loved him.”
