King Charles III (73) and King’s Consort Camilla (75) have visited the Scottish parish of Ballater in Aberdeenshire and thanked its residents for their support after the death of Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022). The Queen started her last journey there in September. From the Balmoral estate, she was first taken to Edinburgh and from there to London with the support of “fire and rescue services, Scottish Police officers and volunteers,” an Instagram post said.
Charles and Camilla attended a reception just a few miles from Balmoral. Photos from the event show people queuing at Ballater railway station to greet the new king and his wife. The 73-year-old wore a traditional kilt and a smart gray blazer. His wife opted for a checked blazer and skirt combination.
During the event, they met city officials and volunteers, among others. Horses, riders and farmers were also present. These formed an honor guard with their tractors during the funeral procession from Balmoral to Edinburgh on 11 September. In an emotional moment, King Charles III. the horse that had escorted his mother’s hearse from Balmoral.
