After Thomas Gottschalk’s (73) last “Wetten, dass…?” broadcast, his good friend David Hasselhoff (71) now speaks out. In the “Bild” newspaper, the “Baywatch” star thanks the show titan, to whom he owes his successful start to his career in Europe. “I have worked with him many times (…). It is and has always been an honor for me to be able to call him a friend and a true professional. I will miss him on the show, which I also enjoyed so much , but I’m sure (…): The best is really yet to come!” said Hasselhoff in “Bild”.

On Saturday evening (November 25th), Thomas Gottschalk hosted the ZDF cult show “Wetten,dass..?” one last time. – and over twelve million people watched. David Hasselhoff has also sat down on the famous TV sofa: in 1989 he performed his hit “Looking For Freedom” there live in front of an audience of 20 million. The Bild newspaper’s headline at the time was “Wow! Who is this David Hasselhoff?” – The 71-year-old still has the newspaper article hanging on his wall to this day.

Appearing on the show gave the “Knight Rider” star a big career boost at the time. “After my appearance at Gottschalk, we sold up to 27,000 records a day. It was an amazing time. Everything blew me away at the time. Suddenly they were carrying you,” says Hasselhoff.

Thomas Gottschalk and the American both have houses in Malibu. They starred in the 1992 film “Ring of the Musketeers” and both appeared in front of the camera together many times. Hasselhoff was a welcome guest on Gottschalk’s shows, including “Mensch Gottschalk”, “Wetten,dass…?” or the “ZDF hit parade”.
