Normally, Tommi Schmitt (33) is self-confident, humorous and with many gags up his sleeve in front of the camera or sits in the recording studio. His podcast “Gemischtes Hack” with comedian Felix Lobrecht (33) is one of the most popular formats in Germany. And his ZDFneo show “Studio Schmitt” is also very popular. But despite his success, Schmitt is “rather a person who tends to self-doubt,” as he revealed in an interview with the “Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung”.

For example, he remembers his appearance in the second season of the comedy format “LOL: Last One Laughing” with and by Michael “Bully” Herbig (54). Schmitt was the first to be thrown out and justified this by saying that he felt out of place next to comedy greats such as Klaas Heufer-Umlauf (39), Bastian Pastewka (50) and Anke Engelke (56).

In order not to become miserable at home, he tries “not to be like, ‘Oh God, how embarrassing’, but to find it kind of amusing”. He makes fun of himself: “That helps.”

Before the 33-year-old stood in front of the camera himself, he worked as a columnist and author for numerous programs, including “Late Night Berlin”. Today he invites prominent guests to his own programs such as “Studio Schmitt” or “Outside”. His goal, however, is not to tease out something “by hook or by crook” that “can be quoted immediately”. “I’m not much of a journalist either,” says Schmitt modestly. He would rather speak to people “quite normally” and that they feel comfortable on his show.

Schmitt’s podcast “Gemischtes Hack” appears weekly with a new episode on Spotify. His program “Studio Schmitt” is broadcast every Thursday from 10:15 p.m. on ZDFneo.
