Around three decades after the last film in the “Beverly Hills Cop” series, Eddie Murphy (62) returns to the screens as cult detective Axel Foley. In the summer of 2024, the Hollywood star will appear in “Bevely Hills Cop: Axel F” on Netflix. The streaming service has now released a first trailer. The clip shows that Murphy is apparently going to cause a lot of chaos again.
“Axel Foley is back,” it says in the trailer – and in a familiar manner. Film fans can expect all sorts of action scenes between chases, shootouts and quick jokes. “Please tell me you haven’t been arrested again,” the detective hears over the phone as he speeds through the area in a truck. His dry answer: “Twice, but I broke out.”
The fourth part of the series appears around 30 years after “Beverly Hills Cop III” (1994). Ten years earlier, Murphy first appeared on screen as Axel Foley in “Beverly Hills Cop – I’ll definitely solve the case.” According to Netflix, in the new action comedy he has to deal with a conspiracy. When the life of Foley’s daughter (Taylour Paige, 33) is at stake, he teams up with her, his new partner (Joseph Gordon-Levitt, 42) and his old friends John Taggart (John Ashton, 75) and Billy Rosewood ( Judge Reinhold, 66).
An old friend is also on board as producer, who has more than enough action experience and also took on this role in the first two parts: Jerry Bruckheimer (80). Meanwhile, Mark Molloy, who has not yet made a big name for himself in the dream factory, is directing.
