Great Britain mourns the loss of one of its actors: Steve Halliwell (1946-2023), best known for his “Emmerdale” role Zak Dingle, died on December 15th at the age of 77. This is reported by the broadcaster ITV, citing a statement from the family. The Briton died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones. “He made us laugh until the end,” they say, and was “the greatest father and grandfather.” The cause of death is unknown.

Stephen Harold “Steve” Halliwell was born in 1946 in Bury, Lancashire, where he grew up with his parents and brother Clive. He completed acting training in London in the 1970s.

He then appeared mainly in series, including “The Doctor and the Cattle”, “Coronation Street”, “The Practice” and “Just in Case Fitz”. From 1994 to 2023 he played the role of Zak Dingle in the award-winning British soap opera “Emmerdale”, which can be seen on ITV, in around 2,400 episodes.
