For fans of Alexander Zverev (25), there should soon be a highlight on the screen. A documentary will be released about the tennis player, who has so far been denied a Grand Slam victory and the rise to number one in the world rankings. “Zverev – The Unfinished” runs from 19.3. on RTL, as has now been announced.

In 2022, Zverev was thrown back by an injury at the French Open. The documentary promises to show the athlete “up close and personal in the fight for his comeback and against the fear of remaining unfinished forever”. It also says in advance: “Intimately like never before, the German number one talks about the biggest mistake of his life, his childhood and what really drives him.” Zverev also reveals why doctors actually thought a tennis career was out of the question.

In addition to Zverev himself, his brother Mischa (35), mother Irina (55), commentator Matthias Stach (60), tennis professionals Novak Djokovic (35) and Dominic Thiem (29) and girlfriend Sophia Thomalla (33 ) to speak. The presenter and the athlete had made their relationship public in 2021. When Zverev tore a severe ligament in the semifinals of the French Open in June 2022, Thomalla wrote on Instagram at the time: “My heart shattered into a thousand pieces when I saw the accident. Sport can be so incredibly cruel.” She then turned her focus to her partner’s speedy recovery. At the end of last year, Zverev celebrated his comeback after the injury.
