In November 2023 it was announced that the series “Young Sheldon” would end after the seventh season. The final episode of “The Big Bang Theory” prequel will air on US television in May. But Sheldon fans apparently won’t have to do without the Cooper family entirely: The spin-off is now set to receive another spin-off.

As the industry magazine “Variety” reports, CBS is working on a spin-off that will focus on the story of the characters Georgie (Montana Jordan, 20) and Mandy (Emily Osment, 31). Accordingly, the US broadcaster is close to a deal with the production company Warner Bros. TV.

According to Variety, Young Sheldon producers Steve Holland, Steven Molaro and Chuck Lorre will once again be behind the project. However, the sitcom should not be shot as a single-camera series like “Young Sheldon”, but rather in a multi-camera setup like the original series.

There are also currently negotiations with the two possible main actors. Georgie is Sheldon’s older brother; in season five of “Young Sheldon” the 17-year-old meets 29-year-old Mandy. She becomes pregnant and gives birth to their child in season six. At the end of the season the two get engaged. Fans of “The Big Bang Theory” should already know how the story ends: In the series, the adult Georgie (played by Jerry O’Connell, 49) already has two ex-wives.

The final seventh season of “Young Sheldon”, with Iain Armitage (15) in the role of Sheldon Cooper, starts on February 15th on CBS, with the last episode scheduled to air on May 16th. The spin-off was launched in 2017 and tells the backstory and growing up of Cooper. The final episode of the series “The Big Bang Theory”, with Jim Parsons (50) in the role of the adult Sheldon Cooper, was screened in 2020 after 13 years.
