Herbert Grönemeyer (66) presented his anthem “Men” in a new version on the occasion of International Women’s Day. On the radio station rbb 88.8 he sang what was probably his greatest hit from 1984 with completely new lyrics on the “Guten Morgen Berlin” show. The rock singer’s musical greeting was published on the station’s official website after the broadcast.

In the text written by rbb employee Philipp Schmid it says, among other things, instead of “Men hug, men give security” now “Women make us strong, women are like a tailwind”. Grönemeyer continues to sing “Women get too little wages, women work like idiots”. The famous refrain was hardly changed, only man became the corresponding pendant: “When is a woman a woman?”

The song “Männer” was the first single from the cult album “4630 Bochum”. Although the song is one of the greatest classics of German-speaking rock and pop music today, “Männer” only made it to seventh place in the German single charts. Herbert Grönemeyer is currently on a promotional tour for his new work “Das ist los”.

The album will be available from March 24th. As expected, his last long-player “Tumult” from 2018 made it to number one in the German album charts.
