Usher (44) mourns his grandmother in a long Instagram post. “It took me a few days to come to terms with the fact that my grandmother Tina is no longer with me,” he writes about a series of pictures of the two. “Her daily dedication was to help people in need, and that’s exactly what she did. It was her life’s work,” explains the musician, adding, “I’m feeling a bit lost right now. Part of me is trying to be strong for others. Her belief was that God always has a plan. That’s what I’m trying to understand right now. God answered her prayers and now I know he called her home. I just wasn’t ready. We did a few days ago laughed. I really thought we had more time.”

The 44-year-old also shared memories of his grandmother: “When I was lost, she was always there, no matter what the hour or how long it lasted. When I needed the right Bible verse to fit the reality I was going through she had it ready.”

Usher also shared his grandma’s last words to his Instagram followers: “‘There is a time for everything son, there is a time to laugh, a time to cry, there is a time to live and a time to die. ‘ Someone just said to me today, ‘Remember it’s only sad because we miss her and we’re selfish and rightly so, but it should be celebrated because she’s in the ultimate place forever!’ I believe in that. She will be greatly missed. Love you grandma. Rest in peace.”

The sympathy for Usher’s loss is great, so celebrities like Jon Batiste (36) or Cynthia Bailey (55) left heart emojis under the post.
