TV presenter Ulla Kock am Brink (61) has been married to Peter Fissenewert (60) since 2019. But before the 61-year-old found her true marital happiness, she gave the vows to someone else in the 1990s. As she revealed to the “Bild” newspaper, that marriage was “a misunderstanding”.
How did this happen? Kock am Brink vacationed with her boyfriend in Thailand in 1989. There Robert “surprised” her and made her an application. Precisely because she felt unwell and was ill, she didn’t refuse: “I was too weak to say no. I had diarrhea, felt miserable, surrendered to my fate.”
In 1991 the time had come, in June the two got married, but they probably had different ideas about marriage. Kock am Brink did not see herself at the stove, but her husband Robert did see her there. After six months it was no longer possible and the presenter separated from him. “It wasn’t nice that I let him sit,” she judges self-critically.
It still seems to have been the right decision. Because she found love with Peter Fissenewert. The two married in July 2019 in a registry office on Sylt, and the big wedding party took place in Berlin in September. Kock am Brink would not have thought that she would marry again: “It was absolutely not on my bucket list,” admitted the 61-year-old in an interview with the news agency spot on news.
The two make a good team: “If we have a difference of opinion, we talk to each other without the famous attitude of reproach, which means I explain how I feel about the situation and he then shows his perspective – that works quite well for us there’s no turf wars, or the urge to ‘win’,” she said.
After her first marriage in the 1990s, Kock am Brink was married to producer Theo Baltz (72) from 2003 to 2010.
