It’s something she’s “wanted for a long time,” Hilary Swank said on “Good Morning America” a few days ago, proudly showing off her small baby bump. The actress and her husband Philip Schneider are expecting twins. Swank also showed up with her belly on her Instagram profile and announced the news.
In the comments, numerous stars and friends congratulated the Oscar winner. But in addition to many positive comments, there were also negative ones. Because Swank’s age seems to be a thorn in some people’s side. “Aren’t you 50 or something?” one asked the 48-year-old, before adding, “You’ll be in your 70s when they graduate from college. And just maybe you’ll see their wedding.”
An answer was not long in coming. Actress and Swanks co-star Emmy Rossum wrote just three letters – but with a clear message: “GFY”, an acronym for “Go f*** yourself”.
In the comments, some users complained about the expectant mother’s old age. One user criticized Swank for also talking about exactly how she got pregnant. Whether she froze eggs, for example. “Or do you want to tell young women that they can wait until they are 48 to start a family? Because they certainly don’t have the same means and finances as you do,” she wrote, starting a discussion. “She doesn’t owe anyone to share her personal pregnancy history,” replied one fan. “It’s just rude and honestly not your problem,” said another.
Swank herself calls her pregnancy a “total miracle”. Twins occur in both her and her husband’s families. The probability of a twin pregnancy is significantly higher in such a case. Even more special for the actress: The baby’s deadline is her father’s birthday, who died a good year ago.
