Sony Pictures Entertainment released the first trailer for “The Garfield Movie” on a Monday of all days. Everyone knows that cult cat Garfield doesn’t respond well to Mondays. In the clip for the upcoming animated film, Garfield not only has his favorite food, lasagne, and plenty of other things to eat – he also has to take a bath and meets his father, the street cat Vic.
The new animated adventure will be shown in cinemas in Germany from May 23, 2024. Although the stars are not in front of the camera, some top Hollywood and series stars were hired to voice the characters.
Above all, “Guardians of the Galaxy” star Chris Pratt (44) speaks in the English-language original tomcat Garfield, while the cat’s father Samuel L. Jackson (74) lends his voice. Other roles include Brett Goldstein (43) and Hannah Waddingham (49), both known from “Ted Lasso”. And Ving Rhames (64), Nicholas Hoult (33), Cecily Strong (39) as well as Harvey Guillén (33) and Bowen Yang are also there. Directed by Mark Dindal (63).
Garfield apparently has a big undertaking ahead of him, because according to a press release, the reunion with his father Vic is not just unexpected. Together with his friend Odie, he is forced to leave his “perfect home and spoiled life behind and accompany Vic on a raid in which a lot is at stake for her”.
