Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer (36) spoke about his skin cancer. In a clip that Neuer published on Instagram, among other things, and advertises his joint skin care line with tennis player Angelique Kerber (34), the footballer points out a small scar next to his nose. “I had three surgeries and had skin cancer.” Accordingly, it is important for him to continue to protect himself.

“It is important for us in sports, since our skin is strained, that we do not damage our body, which can be done with certain products,” explains Neuer, explaining the background to the specially developed care line. “I’m almost only outside. Train in the sun, play my matches. It doesn’t matter whether it’s summer or winter – rays always come through. It’s very important to take care of yourself,” says Kerber in the spot.

On the website of the care series, Neuer explains: “We both have a history of skin diseases. When it comes to sunscreen, we therefore paid attention to maximum protection: Since we constantly train outside and also like to spend our free time in nature, it is essential for us to start with modern sun protection filters and a sun protection factor of 50.”

Neuer is currently aiming for his comeback on the pitch after a shoulder injury. Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann (35) had recently allayed concerns about his World Cup appearance and promised Neuer’s return to the Bundesliga soon.
