“The Night Manager” gets another season after seven years. As Deadline reports, British broadcaster BBC and streaming giant Amazon Prime Video are working on a sequel to the acclaimed 2016 miniseries based on a novel by John le Carré (1931-2020).
Filming is slated to take place later this year in London and South America. According to “Deadline”, the second round has not yet been officially confirmed. Two seasons are said to be in the pipeline.
“Loki” star Tom Hiddleston (42) is said to embody the main character Jonathan Pine again. In the first season, the British ex-soldier worked as a night manager in a hotel in Switzerland. The British secret service smuggles him into the inner circle of arms dealer Richard Roper.
The film adaptation of John le Carré’s novel was not only celebrated by the critics. Tom Hiddleston won the Golden Globes for Best Actor in a Miniseries. Best Supporting Actor was Hugh “Dr. House” Laurie (63), who plays Richard Roper. Oscar winner Olivia Colman (49), who portrayed Pine’s contact with the secret service, won the Golden Globe for best supporting actress.
The illustrious cast was supplemented by Elizabeth Debicki (32), who later became a star as Lady Di in “The Crown”. Directed by the Dane Susanne Bier (62), who received the Oscar for the best non-English language film in 2011 with “In a better world”.
The first season of “The Night Manager” had moved the novel from 1993 to the present day. The next round should also play in the here and now. After learning of the death of arms dealer Roper, Jonathan Pine is sent on an even more dangerous mission. Nothing more is known about the story.
It is also still unclear which actors will appear in the planned seasons of “The Night Manager” alongside Tom Hiddleston. The only thing that is certain so far is that screenwriter David Farr (53) will also write the script in Season 2.
