The most famous work in the world, the ‘Gioconda’, was the victim of an attack this Sunday by one of the visitors to the Louvre Museum. The attacker, who has not yet been identified, disguised himself as an old lady and pretended to use a wheelchair, to commit the act and throw a cake against the glass that protects the work. While the security of the museum apprehended him, the subject began to shout his intentions in French.

«Think of the earth, there are people who are destroying the Earth (…) To the artists, think of the Earth. That’s why I’ve done it. Think of the planet », with these words the attacker justified his action.

In one of the videos that went viral, it is shown how the subject shouts proclamations in defense of the protection of the planet.

And he calls on artists to reflect on the state of the earth. An almost performative action that, thanks to the security of the museum, did not reach a higher level, but leaves in the inkwell the motive of the attacker and the position of the Louvre Museum in the face of the event.

The museum itself has explained that the person in charge managed to approach the work “simulating a disability” and thus taking advantage of the greater margin of approach that is allowed to people with reduced mobility, reports the French press and collects EP.

The attacker “threw the cake against the glass and spread roses everywhere before being restrained by security guards,” according to a witness.
