Taylor Swift (33) has another big surprise ready. In autumn, fans can look forward to new, old music from the successful singer. As she announced on her Instagram account, the re-recording of her album “1989” is in the starting blocks to be heard by the Swifties up and down. Almost ten years to the day after the release of the original album.
Captioning the cover photo, which shows Swift laughing with her hair blowing in the wind, she captioned the social media platform, “Surprise!! ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’ is on its way to you guys!” She also explained the special meaning she has for the long player, originally released in October 2014: “The album ‘1989’ has changed my life in countless ways and I’m excited to announce that my version of it will be released on November 27th. will be released in October.”
The upcoming album is her personal favorite among the re-recordings, especially the five “From The Vault” songs (in German: “Aus dem Tresor”) are just “so crazy”. She couldn’t believe that they were left behind back then. The album can already be pre-ordered.
In her re-recording project, Taylor Swift is recording updated versions of her first six studio albums. In addition to the well-known hits, each newly released album also features songs that didn’t make it onto the record when it was first released. So far, Swift has already released new versions of her albums “Fearless”, “Speak Now” and “Red” as “Taylor’s Version”.
The background to the new recordings is a long-standing legal dispute: Between 2006 and 2017, Swift was signed to the Big Machine label and released her first six albums there. In mid-2019, entrepreneur Scooter Braun (42) bought the label and thus secured the rights to the master recordings of Swift’s songs. After that, an argument broke out. Allegedly, Braun and his partner Scott Borchetta (61) even wanted to ban the singer from performing her old songs.
