The change of seasons brings with it changes in daily beauty rituals: In autumn, the skin needs a new care routine. This should be aimed at supplying the skin with sufficient moisture so that the natural protective function is maintained. This protects the body from harmful external influences, among other things, and is therefore an important player in our immune system.
Ever colder temperatures cause the skin cells to constrict. This can lead to dry facial skin. When it comes to skin care, it is therefore important to find the right balance: Both too frequent and insufficient cleaning of the skin damage the skin’s barrier function. And if the protective function is damaged, this in turn leads to increased moisture loss.
With the help of vegetable oils or creams containing ceramides, we can strengthen the protective function of sensitive facial skin. Ceramides belong to the lipids and are the skin’s own fats that keep the skin barrier intact. For example, jojoba oil or almond oil can be used with natural oils. These are particularly moisturizing and provide the skin cells with the nutrients they need. Ideally, a few drops of the oil should be massaged into the still damp skin in the morning and evening. In the morning you can then apply additional day cream or continue with your usual make-up routine.
The skin’s natural barrier provides protection against foreign substances and microorganisms that you don’t want to enter the body from the external environment, and also reduces moisture loss. Our natural protective wall can not only be supported with care products. Drinking a lot (preferably water and unsweetened tea), getting enough sleep and getting enough exercise in the fresh air are the best measures you can take to keep your skin healthy.
In the fresh air, you can give facial skin a boost with the help of a real skin care classic. As soon as the temperatures get cooler, a cold cream should not be missing in our bathroom cupboard. The recipe is traditionally made up of the following ingredients: beeswax, water, olive oil (or almond oil) and an essential oil for the fragrance. Due to the high fat content, the cold cream protects the skin from drying out and from environmental influences. It also soothes red areas and relieves tension and itching. A must in autumn and winter!
