“Sex and the City” fans, who have been toasting themselves with Carrie Bradshaw’s supposed favorite cocktail Cosmopolitan for years, need to be strong now. As Carrie actress Sarah Jessica Parker (58) revealed in the “Daily Mail”, she didn’t like the cocktail at all at first. The drink tasted “terrible” when she tried it for the first time: “I thought: where does all the hype about this drink come from?”
The series was produced in the United States for six seasons between 1998 and 2004 and aired worldwide. She not only turned Sarah Jessica Parker and her fellow leading actresses into the stars of a whole generation of women. “I never thought that there would be such a hype around the drink.” And Parker further reveals: “Anyway, we only had cranberry juice with water in front of the camera.”
However, Parker has since made peace with the mix of vodka, lime, orange liqueur and cranberry juice. “I drink Cosmopolitans from time to time. However, I don’t allow myself to be invited. I order the drink myself and put together the components myself.” Parker’s message to all women, just like on the show, is here too: woman is herself.
After two “Sex and the City” movies in 2008 and 2010 and an extended break from the series, Sarah Jessica Parker has been back as Carrie in the series sequel “And Just Like That…” in New York on men’s shows since 2021. And sometimes she also has a reddish shimmering drink in her hand…
