Selena Gomez (30) has regained the Instagram throne. Yesterday, Thursday (February 23), the American pop star overtook Kylie Jenner (25) as the woman with the most followers on the social media app. Also yesterday, Gomez announced in a live TikTok video that she plans to take another break from all social media.
As of Friday afternoon, more than 382,760,000 people are following Gomez on her official Instagram channel – and the trend is rising. Jenner, on the other hand, has 380,690,000 followers. Not for the first time, Gomez is the most followed woman on the popular app. Only football stars Lionel Messi (35) and Cristiano Ronaldo (38) have a higher number, namely 433 and 552 million.
In the same breath, superstar Gomez announced yesterday Thursday that she plans to take a temporary break from social media. In a TikTok live video, which can be seen on Twitter, the singer declared, “I’m just going to take a break from everything,” to add, “I’m 30 and too old for this. But I love you guys so much and I will rather you see you sooner than later”. Following the video, Gomez deactivated her TikTok account, which is now available again.
