Christmas is around the corner. The big streaming services are again trumping with numerous highlights related to the festival of love. At Disney, for example, “Santa Clause – The Series” premieres. A sequel to the popular film trilogy with Tim Allen (69) as Santa Claus.
Fans had to wait a full 16 years to see Scott Calvin (Tim Allen), better known as Santa Clause, again. The last part of the film trilogy “Santa Clause 3 – A frosty mess” dates from the year 2006. In “Santa Clause – The Series” Scott Calvin is about to celebrate his 65th birthday. After almost three decades as Santa Claus, it is becoming increasingly difficult for him to do his job and to be there for his family around his wife Carol (Elizabeth Mitchell, 52). But then he realizes that it’s possible for him to retire, too. Santa Clause goes in search of a worthy successor to be a better husband and father himself.
“Santa Clause – The Series” started on November 16 on Disney and has a total of six episodes. The original stars of the popular film trilogy all return for the series sequel.
Superheroes celebrate Christmas too. The “Guardians of the Galaxy” want to give their only native Peter Quill (Chris Pratt, 43) a special treat and travel to Earth to find the perfect Christmas present for Star-Lord.
In addition to Pratt, Dave Bautista (53) as Drax, Pom Klementieff (36) as Mantis, Karen Gillan (35) as Nebula, Bradley Cooper (47) as Rocket and Vin Diesel (55 ) as Groot with. A special highlight is the appearance of Kevin Bacon (64), who plays himself. James Gunn (56) is responsible for the screenplay and direction.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special has been available for pre-order on Disney since November 25th.
In the festive holiday special “Best in Snow”, moderated by Tituss Burgess (43), five teams from all over the world carve magical snow sculptures based on Disney films such as “Vaiana”, “Coco” and “The Lion King”. The world-famous cookbook author Donna Hay (52) shows in the four-part cooking show “Christmas with Donna Hay” how a spectacular feast can be conjured up. And in “The Hip Hop Nutcracker” Rev Run (58) from Run-D.M.C. a hip-hop reinterpretation of the Nutcracker Ballet in New York. All three titles mentioned are already available on Disney.
With Lindsay Lohan (36) and Freddie Prinze Jr. (46), two stars of the past are celebrating a small comeback on the Netflix streaming service. Mama-in-law favorite Prinze Jr. plays single music teacher Miguel in “Christmas for You.” He receives a visit from pop star Angelina (Aimee Garcia, 44), who grants a young superfan a Christmas wish. Angelina quickly develops feelings for her attractive host.
In the Christmas romance film “Falling For Christmas,” Lindsay Lohan portrays rich, spoiled and newly engaged hotel heiress Sierra, who loses her memory in a skiing accident. She ends up in the care of the attractive and down-to-earth pension owner Jake (Chord Overstreet, 33), who lovingly cares for her. Both titles mentioned are already available on Netflix.
“Spirited” is the title of a reinterpretation of the famous Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens (1812-1870) on Apple TV. “Deadpool” star Ryan Reynolds (46) and comedian Will Ferrell (55) take on the lead roles in the Christmas musical – and in addition to singing, viewers can of course also expect lots of fun and slapstick. “Spirited” is already available to stream on Apple TV.
If you prefer to focus on German stars, you should make a note of the mini-series “Peaceful Christmas” on Amazon Prime Video. Valerie Huber (26), Timur Bartels (27), Uwe Ochsenknecht (66), Esther Schweins (52) and Wayne Carpendale (45) fight against the annual Christmas stress. Johanna (Valerie Huber) and Anton (Timur Bartels) want to spend Christmas and their anniversary together. However, their traditional families do not want to do without their children, so the young couple finally invites both (extended) families to the Austrian mountains to the chalet of brother-in-law Oliver (Wayne Carpendale). Chaos is inevitable here. The six-part holiday series has been on Amazon Prime Video since December 9th.
