The great retro wave on German television continues. As RTL has now announced, the broadcaster will be showing “RTL Saturday Night – The Reunion” in October. The gala show brings the stars of the iconic comedy format back together on the screen.

Olli Dittrich (65), Wigald Boning (55), Esther Schweins (52), Stefan Jürgens (59), Tanja Schumann (60), Tommy Krappweis (50) and Mark Weigel (53) will be there. There are parodies, sketches and music to be seen, including classics such as “Two Chairs – One Opinion”, “News from Spocht” and “Die Doofen”. Hugo Egon Balder (72), producer of the show at that time, will lead through the evening. The whole thing can be seen on October 29 from 8:15 p.m. on RTL and RTL.

“As the producer at the time, I’m very happy to moderate the big ‘RTL Saturday Night’ reunion and meet the old crew. It’ll be fun,” said Balder in a press release from the broadcaster at the end of August. “It goes without saying that we also pay tribute to our friend Mirco Nonchev on the show.”

Nonchev belonged to the regular cast of the format that flickered across the country’s screens between 1993 and 1998. The comedian died unexpectedly last year at the age of 52. He most recently appeared in the third season of Amazon Prime Video’s “LOL: Last One Laughing.” The episodes have been on view since spring 2022.
