Rock am Ring and Rock im Park have announced the final headlining band for the 2023 line-up: the Foo Fighters. The performances are even exclusive – as their label explains in a press release and the festival on Instagram, it will be the band’s only two concerts this year throughout Europe.
The US band announced the first regular concert dates since the death of their drummer Taylor Hawkins (1972-2022) just a few days ago. The plan is to headline the Sonic Temple, Boston Calling and Bonnaroo festivals in May and June. At the end of last year, the Foo Fighters around frontman Dave Grohl (53) had declared that they wanted to continue despite Hawkins’ death.
The Foo Fighters are the third headliner on the main stage. The Toten Hosen and Kings of Leon were previously announced. Other well-known names at the festival include Rise Against, Five Finger Death Punch, Limp Bizkit, Tenacious D, Incubus, Evanescence and Machine Gun Kelly. Another special feature are the NOFX gigs – they are said to be the last of the punk rock veterans in Germany.
The twin festivals Rock am Ring and Rock im Park will take place from 02.06. until 04.06.2023 at the Nürburgring/Eifel or at the Zeppelinfeld/Nuremberg. Tickets are still available for both festivals.
