Fashionistas love long maxi dresses, short skirts and wide trousers in summer. However, the bike often has to stand still. After all, who wants to have an unfortunate Marilyn Monroe moment or to free oil-smeared trousers from the bicycle chain? With a few tips and tricks, nothing stands in the way of a bike ride despite your summer outfit.

A large coin (50 cents or 1 euro) and a hair tie make long skirts and dresses bike-safe in no time. Simply pull the back skirt hem through the legs to the front, put the coin in the fabric and then tie both parts together with the elastic. The skirt is fixed and weighed down so that it no longer blows up in the airflow. A tip: If you don’t want to risk wrinkles, you can also connect the fabrics with a safety pin.

The coin trick is difficult to use with short skirts. It is therefore advisable to wear short leggings or cycling shorts underneath when cycling. In this way, the woman stays dressed despite the gust of wind and her thighs don’t rub against the bicycle saddle. The practical pants are now available in a wide variety of colors, ideally matching the outfit. The cycling shorts also prevent the inner thighs from rubbing against each other and becoming sore. When you arrive at your destination, you can simply take off the lower part.

Wide Marlene trousers or culottes also make cycling more difficult. The fabrics quickly get caught in the bicycle chain, which can even cause accidents. It also damages clothing or gets stubborn oil stains. A chain guard can be the solution here. This can be installed in any bike shop. But if it has to be quick, two hair ties will help. Simply use these to gather and fix the respective trouser leg. The only downside: depending on the fabric, creases may appear.

Alternatively, you can also put on a practical sports outfit for driving and wear the dress later in the office or rather get on a scooter or e-scooter instead of a bike.
