The Christmas “crime scene” experienced a ratings collapse this time. Just 4.09 million (14.1 percent) switched on the Munich case “Mord unter Misteln” on Boxing Day from 8:15 p.m. – no other new “crime scene” had so few viewers this year. According to calculations by the industry service dwdl.de, it was even the weakest “Tatort” first broadcast since at least 2006.
For comparison: A year ago, the Charlotte Lindholm case “Everything comes back” had reached 6.72 million, two years ago 7.36 million had watched the Münster thriller “Summ, Summ, Summ” at Christmas, although it was was about a repeat.
The “Tatort” makers staged “Murder under Mistletoe” in the style of an Agatha Christie crime thriller. Udo Wachtveitl as Inspector Francis Lightmyer and Miroslav Nemec as Constable Ivor Partridge had to solve the murder of a butler in England in 1922.
The ZDF “Traumschiff” then passed the ARD “crime scene” with great force. The holiday adventure “Coco Island” with Florian Silbereisen, Barbara Wussow, Daniel Morgenroth and Collien Ulmen-Fernandes brought in 5.70 million (19.7 percent) in the second. Günther Jauch’s RTL quiz “Who wants to be a millionaire? – The Christmas gambler special” moved 2.92 million people (12.2 percent) to tune in.
Different length – different odds
Sat.1 had the animated film “Frozen 2” to offer – 1.92 million (6.8 percent) watched. The US comedy “Die Glücksritter” with Dan Aykroyd, Eddie Murphy and Ralph Bellamy ran on Kabel Eins, they brought 1.09 million (3.9 percent) into the house.
Three programs had an average of 840,000 viewers that evening, but achieved different ratings due to the different lengths: The ProSieben competition show “The duel around the world – Team Joko versus Team Klaas” saw 3.6 percent. The US comedy “Bad Moms 2” on Vox with Kristen Bell, Mila Kunis and Justin Hartley followed 3.0 percent. The British crime thriller “Inspector Barnaby: At night when you’re afraid” with John Nettles, John Hopkins, Laura Howard and Jane Wymark on ZDFneo drew 2.9 percent in front of the screen.
The American fantasy film “Breaking Dawn – Bis(s) zum Ende der Nacht, Teil 1” on RTLzwei had 720,000 viewers (2.6 percent).
