Raquel Welch (1940-2023) died on February 15 of this year. The US portal “TMZ” has now revealed the cause of death of the Hollywood icon. According to her death certificate, Welch died of cardiac arrest. In addition, the 82-year-old at the time of her death was suffering from Alzheimer’s – a diagnosis that Welch had not made public.

Welch’s manager Steve Sauer previously told People that the actress “passed away peacefully after a short illness.” The screen legend became internationally famous in the 1960s with films such as “The Fantastic Journey” (1966) or “A Million Years Before Time” (1966) and was considered a global sex symbol.

Numerous Hollywood stars such as actress Reese Witherspoon (47) or director Paul Feig (60) said goodbye to Welch on social media. Oscar winner Witherspoon, who co-starred with Welch in the cult comedy Legally Blonde (2001), wrote: “I loved working with her on Legally Blonde. She was incredibly elegant, professional and glamorous. Simply stunning”.
