Sylvester Stallone is known with a steely body, every muscle is neatly defined. The actor had to be in top physical shape, especially for his roles in the “Rambo” and “Rocky” films. And of course that is not possible without hard, excessive training.
Meanwhile, Stallone seems to be paying the price for that. On Instagram, the 76-year-old warned his fans against excessive ambition in strength training. Stallone posted a picture of himself doing the ‘Dragon Flag’ fitness exercise versus fighter legend Bruce Lee, and wrote, “No wonder my back hurts! As you train, remember that every exercise has a big impact. Knees, Elbows, shoulders, ankles, wrists, neck — if you overdo it, those strenuous movements will come back and haunt you. That’s why I’ve always said, getting in really good shape kills you.”
Ten years ago, Stallone told “Bild” in an interview about his physical condition: “Everything hurts, every bone cracks.” Nevertheless, the action star is still active in sports, regularly posting pictures from the gym where he lifts weights. Stallone is considered a great idol in the bodybuilder scene – at his best when filming “Rocky III” (1988) he said he had a body fat percentage of only three percent. For the fifth film in the “Rocky” series, which was released in cinemas in 2019, Stallone got back into shape at the age of 72.
Not only in the gym, but also in front of the camera, the Hollywood star always gave everything. During the filming of “Rocky IV” he let himself be beaten so hard by Dolph Lundgren, his nemesis in the film, that he had to spend several days in intensive care, Stallone once said. Stallone is admired by many fans for his discipline, his looks and his muscular strength – but he gives a clear warning to imitators.
