The “Who wants to be a millionaire?” candidate Anna Öhlrich-Faustmann did not bring her father any luck as a telephone joker. She stumbled over the 64,000 euro question in the special “Die 3-Million-Euro-Woche” broadcast on Monday evening. The woman from Düsseldorf fell to 500 euros on the RTL show in front of the eyes of more than three million viewers.
The sympathetic gynecologist had already used the public joker when asked about an elephant monument in a German river and was now faced with the following task: “What is it about “ius soli”, the law of the soil, and “ius sanguinis”, the “right of the blood”? A. Citizenship, B. Inheritance, C. Self-defence, D. Income tax”. The doctor was already on the right track: “I can only imagine citizenship.” Then she became unsure and used the telephone joker.
The young woman called her father (“My daughter is a very smart girl”), a lawyer. When she asked “Does that mean something to you?” the notary replied: “Yes, right of inheritance to 75 percent.” The woman from Düsseldorf said goodbye with “Thank you, Daddy” and said with conviction to host Günther Jauch: “If my father says that, then that’s right.” Tragically, things turned out differently. Correct was “A. Citizenship”. Anna Öhlrich-Faustmann fell to 500 euros because she had chosen the risk variant with four jokers. In this case, the prize level of EUR 16,000, which she would certainly have had, is dropped. Two other candidates in the show also slipped to 500 euros.
