Pur singer Hartmut Engler has made friends with gender language in everyday life. “I’m slowly trying to get used to it and to incorporate some things into my language use,” Engler told the “Augsburger Allgemeine” (Saturday). In many areas he finds the discussions about gender or cultural appropriation to be welcome.

“Recently I caught myself in a radio interview saying ‘Dear listener’, which made me uncomfortable afterwards,” he said. “As a 60-year-old who was shaped differently by language, I sometimes fall into old habits, but I’m working on myself.”
