The event was seven years ago, but a court in Utah is currently dealing with the accident, which took place on a slope in the posh ski resort of Park City. The fact that this process has met with such great public interest is due to the defendant: Gwyneth Paltrow has to defend himself against the accusation that he hit a man on the ski slope in February 2016, seriously injured him and then fled. At least that’s what the 76-year-old claims, who demands $300,000 from the actress.
Paltrow counters that she is the real victim. Her lawyer portrayed the actress as a “cautious skier” in his opening speech. The lawyer blames the plaintiff himself for the collision, in which the man allegedly suffered broken ribs and a brain injury. The retired ophthalmologist was driving on the runway behind Paltrow and had to swerve to avoid the collision. This representation corresponds to the statement made by Paltrow’s ski instructor at the time.
On the second day of the trial, several experts called by the plaintiff appeared. Among other things, the neuropsychologist who treated the 76-year-old skier testified. He certifies that his patient suffered from massive mental problems as a result of the collision. At the same time, he described the man as “obsessed” with the incident.
A radiologist had previously identified a brain trauma in the plaintiff’s skull using X-ray images, which he said could not have occurred when the 76-year-old was driving in Paltrow.
The accident happened in 2016 as part of a family vacation. Paltrow’s children Apple and Moses, then 11 and 9 years old, were there, as were her current husband Brad Falchuk and his children. Both Falchuk and Paltrow’s children could testify in court in the next few days. The 50-year-old herself could also take the witness stand. The next few days in court could be exciting.
