While Royal fans were looking forward to London over the weekend, where King Charles III. was crowned in a solemn ceremony, there was no public sign of life from Duchess Meghan. No official congratulations on her father-in-law’s accession to the throne, nor a new photo for her son Archie’s fourth birthday, which was also celebrated on Saturday. But now pictures have surfaced showing what Meghan did on Sunday: she was hiking with friends near her home in Montecito.
The 41-year-old can be seen in casual clothes in the pictures published by the British newspaper “Daily Mail”. She wears black leggings, a sleeveless T-shirt, and has a jacket tied around her hips. Hat and sunglasses protect you from the Californian sun, your feet are in sturdy hiking boots. Prince Harry is not in the photos.
For this, Meghan was accompanied by Heather Dorak and Markus Anderson. Both are longtime friends of the Duchess and were also invited to the wedding with Prince Harry in 2018. Anderson most recently worked as a consultant for the Soho House group, Dorak is a Pilates instructor and has two sons who are the same age as Meghan’s children Archie and Lilibet.
It’s quite possible they were also there when family and friends celebrated Archie’s fourth birthday on Saturday. Meghan baked a lemon cake with fruits from her own garden, several media reported. Prince Harry is also said to have been home in time for dinner after his appearance at the coronation.
The 38-year-old traveled to London on Friday and was only in the city for around 28 hours. During the two-hour ceremony at Westminster Abbey, he sat in the third row, next to his cousin Eugenie’s husband. After the service, Harry got straight into a car that took him to the airport.
He declined the invitation to attend a family lunch at Buckingham Palace, which his father Charles is said to have been very disappointed about. In a speech before the meal, the king also remembered those family members who weren’t there and wished Archie a happy birthday “wherever he may be”.
