Prince Carl Philip of Sweden (44) is unfortunately currently suffering from a health problem. More than a week ago, on October 26th, Princess Sofia’s husband (38) appeared in public for the first time with his arm in a cast. At that time, King Carl XVI’s only son visited. Gustaf of Sweden (77) and Queen Silvia (79) visited the Medical Society in Stockholm – and did not want to comment on the cause of his injury.
However, the palace later explained what had happened to the Swedish newspaper Svensk Damtidning: “Prince Carl Philip had an unfortunate fall during a family activity last week and injured his arm,” an official statement said.
In all likelihood, Princess Sofia and their three sons Prince Alexander (7), Prince Gabriel (6) and little Julian (2) were also present during the accident. The injury must also have occurred after October 19th, because Prince Carl Philip was still uninjured at an awards ceremony for Chef of the Year on that date.
Meanwhile, the Swedish Royal Palace also tersely confirmed that Carl Philip required surgery on his injured right arm. “It is true that the prince underwent a minor operation in the hospital after he fell during an outing with his family,” Margareta Thorgren, the court’s information director, told Svensk Damtidning.
Despite these unpleasant events, Prince Carl Philip can still count himself a little lucky: as a left-handed person, the injury to his right arm should have relatively little impact on him.
