The American singer Billie Eilish (21) has confirmed her own statements that she loves women but doesn’t want to make a big deal out of her coming out. “I kind of thought, ‘Wasn’t that obvious?'” Eilish (“Bad Guy”) said at a Variety magazine event in Los Angeles.
“I had no idea people didn’t know that,” the singer added. “I’m like, ‘Why can’t we just exist?’ I’ve been doing this for a while and I just haven’t talked about it. Whoops.”
In the past, Eilish has also confirmed relationships with men; in May, her spokesperson team announced her separation from boyfriend Jesse Rutherford. These past relationships were not discussed on Saturday or in the interview with Variety.
With Saturday’s statements, Eilish clarified sentences from the November issue of “Variety”. In it, Eilish spoke about the public pressure she’s felt since her first hit at age 13, and she talked about being repeatedly questioned about her sexuality.
She also suffered from the assumption that other women wouldn’t like her. “I’ve never felt like I could relate well to other girls. I love them so much,” Eilish said. “I love them as people, I’m attracted to them as people. I’m really attracted to them.”
