Few singers are as closely associated with Christmas as Mariah Carey. Her hit “All I Want For Christmas Is You” is heard around the festival and earns the pop star millions. However, the 52-year-old also intones a whole range of other, less well-known Christmas songs – most recently even with her daughter.

At a show in Toronto, Carey brought eleven-year-old Monroe on stage and sang a duet with her for the first time. Mother and daughter performed the well-known Christmas carol “Away In A Manger” together. And the singer almost burst with pride: “This is my little girl, eleven years ago I got the biggest gift,” she explained. “This is our first duet.”

Viewers posted footage of the concert on YouTube, and judging by the audience’s reaction, the performance was well received. The 11-year-old, who wore a flowing, glittery white dress like her mother, apparently inherited the musical skills. On Instagram there was praise for the daughter and mother from the fans.

“I enjoyed every moment of last night’s show. Can’t wait to hear and see more,” one fan wrote. “Mariah Carey is a single mom. And Mariah Carey is the best mom. Your relationship with yours Children is just beautiful,” read another comment on the singer’s Instagram profile.

Monroe and her twin brother Morocco are from Mariah Carey’s marriage to her ex-husband Nick Cannon, to whom she was married from 2008 to 2016. Carey has often appeared in public with her twins – but never musically. This could possibly indicate that her daughter could one day follow in her famous mother’s footsteps and also pursue a career in the music business.
